Anti-Static Suede Polishing Cloth vs Glass Cloth:
To explain why our suede cloth is microfiber but still anti-static, I need explain a bit of science first. Static shock is created when electrons travel from a positively charged surface to a negatively charged surface. When the two oppositely charged items are brought in a close enough proximity, the charges will attempt to neutralize by transferring electrons. Microfiber carries with it a positive charge created by the interaction of the fibers and therefore attracts the negatively charged dust and dirt particles. Water helps speed the transition of electrons by dissipating the charge but does not prevent the electrons from transferring. This means that the glass cloth, though lint free is not actually antistatic. It will simply neutralize the charge using water as a transfer agent. Our suede cloths are manufactured with a coating that forms a barrier preventing the transfer of electrons while still providing the superior cleaning ability of microfiber. They will remove the dust and grease left by human hands but will not neutralize the charge. It is scientifically impossible to prevent dust from attracting to an electronic item without using a chemical specifically designed for preventing the transfer.
To summarize, the glass cloth appears to be antistatic because it doesn’t shock you but as it is designed for damp use, it only masks the electron transfer. Our suede cloth will clean just as well, if not better, and will prevent the transfer as well. It is universally recognized as the best cloth for use on electronic devices.
